After an 18 hour train ride, we’re in the last city of our China route before we fly out to Kazakhstan. My team still needs to move one more time within the city, but our time is coming to an end soon. So far, we’ve stayed in 4 different places and our time here has been SOMETHING, lemme tell you. And, yes, once we fly out of China, I want to update you all on it. For now, here’s a fun little story for you to enjoy 🙂
So, this is actually a little story that my team came up with while we played a little game where each person had drawn from a pile of nouns we had written earlier and our task was to create a story that lasted a minute using the word we drew, and that built off of whatever the previous person had used.
But, first, for those of you disappointed because I don’t have any actual juicy updates on my love life, here is a picture you can enjoy of the giant Teddy Bear that held me as I began my, now, 8 day journey of an upper respiratory infection…
ENJOY!
Name of teammate — noun needed to use
Frieda-Zipper
One morning, I tried to get out of my sleeping bag and, wouldn’t you know it, my zipper was stuck so I had to squirm my way out of the sleeping bag. I went to go put my pants on and the zipper wouldn’t come up! So, I resorted to leggings and found a tunic to go over them— because world race dress code— and wouldn’t you know it, the zipper on the tunic wouldn’t come up either so I had to grab a sweater to cover up the slit.
So, I walked out of the house, ready to get my day started and, wouldn’t you know it— I saw a guy from across the street who had his zipper down…and I just knew, it was meant to be.
Michaela-Superman
And, wouldn’t you know it, the guy with his zipper down was Superman! They both looked at each and just knew it was meant to be. Superman and Frieda started spending time together, with their zipper still unfixed.
Then, Superman carried Frieda around and took her to a beautiful mountain. They felt like they were on top of the world! But there was nowhere else they would rather be.
Ellie- Antelope
And then an antelope comes galloping towards frieda and knocks her clean off the mountain and she’s free falling. It’s been a minute now and she’s still falling and superman’s just kinda there. A d all of a sudden, a great gust of wind picks up Frieda and takes her to Mt Olympus so now she’d at Mt Olympus and she’s talking with Athena and Athena goes, “I don’t want you to marry superman. I want you to join me.”
Marianna- Coffee Barista
So, Frieda does not agree and Athena casts her out of Mt Olympus into a very poor city in Greece. Frieda says, “well, I don’t know what to do with my life now so I guess I’ll become a coffee barista.” She starts working at a coffee shop because she loves coffee and then becomes addicted to coffee. Every day she’s like shaking, she’s so excited, she becomes really fast at running. She’s like running around Greece doing activity to burn off all this caffeine. She loves coffee, so.
Laura- nail polish
She’s working as a coffee barista running around Greece in her spare time and Superman comes back and has all of these feelings for her. He has his busted zipper still and her zipper is still busted, as well. And he knows how much she loves nail polish so he presents her with a bottle of nail polish and says, “Frieda, will you take me back? Let this bottle of nail polish be a token of my love for you.” So Frieda says okay and takes the nail polish. And they start over again.
Kenz— hammock
So, thy start over again until she goes outside with Superman and they’re just chilling, reading their Bible by the Chinese river because they’re back in China, somehow. And, all of a sudden, she gets PTSD and she heard the rumbling of the antelope come back and the antelope start sprinting to Frieda so Frieda starts running and running. And superman is chasing after the antelope because for some reason, he’s slow. And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, Frieda runs straight smack into a hammock, gets the wind knocked out of her…she’s laying on the ground, looking up at the sky and then Superman comes in under the sunbeams, looks at her with the little swoop of hair on his forehead, and cradles her face and says “you’re my antelope, Frieda. You keep running from me.”
Lacy— Niall James Horan
Let’s see. As time went by, Frieda started hearing in the distance, an alarm go off. Frieda wakes from her crazy dream and, all of a sudden, she wakes up, she’s laying in bed looking around, still looking and this man walks in. “Where am I?” She looks down at her hands, she notices a rock. She starts thinking, “who’s in the shower?” Who just shut off the shower. “Who is coming in?” There it is— Nial James Horren. She looks at him with his blonde hair and blue eyes— gazing upon her husband.
So, my superman is still out there somewhere, apparently… Maybe even holding on to a beautiful color of nail polish? Haha!
Things have been pretty hectic this past month and I’m still sick but God is still faithful and even in the midst of feeling so worn, so confused, and so hopeless, His love overruns. I can’t wait to share more details with you soon.
I got the details of my flight home just a few days ago and I am actually going to be making a pit stop to see some family, (shhhh it’s a surprise!) before making it back to good ol’ O-H-I-O.
But before I make it back home, I’m still in need of your support. I realize my updates haven’t been very detailed nor frequent and I apologize for that! Please feel free to reach out to me if you’d like more info on what I’ve been up to— blogging is harder to keep up with than I realized. If you feel It in your heart to give, here are some more details:
I’m $3,640 away from being fully funded for this trip. 🙂
