It’s a new team, again! I am currently in Vietnam with my new team, “Joyful Noise!”
It’s 4 of us precious ladies— Alicia (Team Leader), Christy (Treasurer), Paige, and I. We’ve only been a team for a few days but is has been amazing!
So, let’s catch up.
I want to tell you a little bit about Uganda, Month 5, December 4th-January 1st. It was the first month of my former team— Team T.A.M.M.Y.
We were 3 guys and 3 girls. During the month of Uganda, we did a mixture of things because it was an “Ask The Lord” month. This means that we didn’t have a host or a specific organization we worked with. Rather, we pressed into making relationships and serving where we could, where we were needed, or where we felt God really wanted us to be.
We stayed in Jinja, Uganda for a few days and had the opportunity to help a man build a small library for the local children and help another man clear his field for an organization he plans to start that will seek to provide opportunities for local children to continue in their education and discipleship.

After a few days in Jinja, we felt we should go to the capital of Kampala.
Once we were in the capital, we got connected to a local Coptic Orthodox Church that was running a Life With Purpose program. Lydia was our contact and she was also working on the beginning stages of a yogurt business that would provide jobs to local people.
So, we got to help paint the upcoming yogurt factory, paint the Life with Purpose Center, and got to spend time with locals! We even got to teach some English.
Christmas day, we prepared food in the apartment we were staying and and then went out to give food. Most people received the food in their hands and only a few would run into their homes to grab a plate or cup to put the food in.
Some other highlights of this month were:
- We took in a stray kitty for a few days and took care of it
- We met a local woman named Alice who is teaching young women to sew and make clothing to sell. She has a vision for seeing young women become empowered and be self-sustainable.
- we helped was off some paint off a baby goat
- Helped prepare Chapati and sugar cookies for. Christmas Event held by the Coptic Orthodox Church

But, I want to tell you a little more about what it was like living with a new team. And living with boys.
So, be on the lookout for my next blog that talks a little about that…
