Well we are living in the bush and we have been finding ways that we can serve the local community.
Partly this has included some home visits to a few people living in huts ranging from 10 minutes to half an hour’s drive away. We have been there meeting people and hearing about them, and where we have met some who are unwell we have spent some time praying for them – a pregnant woman with a fever, a woman who had ear and eye infections and her child, and a man still suffering from the after effects of a stroke.

Dusty spoke at church (and I get to tomorrow) and we have played a couple of songs, which is interesting as it presents a contrast between African acapella singing and our guitar-accompanied singing. This is great though as it just reminds me of how we are all varied and how there is so much creativity to God.

We ran a children’s programme in two separate locations, telling the kids all about ourselves, learning about them, playing some games and giving a message from the Word.

Then, today, we helped out in leading a discipleship training course. There were a number of churches represented by their leadership, who all spent time saying who they were, what they did and about their church, as we shared a little about the World Race and ourselves. They sang, we sang, one of the ministers presented a message and then 4 of our team led sessions about discipleship. I started off about the importance of discipleship and why we do it, Jenn and Amanda presented about what discipleship looks like in ourselves, and Michelle shared about discipling others. All in all it has been a fun day.

In my free time I have also been able to sort through the photos that I have gotten copies of from so far this year, and I have also started a language program – Rosetta Stone Spanish (Latin America). A number of us on our squad, having bought the software for cheap in China, have started learning from this in the hopes that we will be better equipped for ministry by the time we get to Central America in May. Watch this space 🙂
Here is how some of an afternoon of free time was spent 😛

Yep, head, shoulders, knees and toes. We're creative…
So our time here has looked a little different than we initially thought it might, but it has been really enjoyable.
