HAPPY EASTER to all of my friends and family
I miss you all, all the more on holidays like this and I think about you regularly.

So it's Easter and that makes it a holiday and a special day.

Now obvioulsy there is a lot to be thankful for today, and last night my team and I watched the Passion of the Christ. Such a moving film – if you haven't seen it, or even if you have, today would definitely be a good day to watch it and weep.

Last holiday season (New Year) I posted a blog: You Know You're A World Racer When…

This time I'm taking a slightly different approach. You may have seen the kinds of adverts or tag lines that say something along the lines of "[Product/Service name]… helping you [Product/Service purpose] since [Product/Service founding date]". So without further ado (although I may do another one in the future, so this probably isn't definitive):

The World Race, helping you…:

  • Learn how to truly trust God with every aspect of your life unconditionally,
  • Become excellent at charades,
  • Step out of your comfort zones,
  • Struggle to say basic phrases because you have half a dozen languages in your head,
  • Get used to wearing the same outfit (including underwear…) for several days at a time,
  • Value good internet when it's available,
  • See everything that's wrong with you and how you can grow,
  • Lose all sense of items' worth because of multiple exchange rates,
  • Value the opposite sex as sisters without having to worry about sending mixed signals,
  • Reject the materialistic assumptions of western culture,
  • Understand your place in the world,
  • See God's plan and power at work in His church around the world,
  • Deepen relationships with family from across the planet,
  • Share your faith honestly and openly with people from home to people in remote villages,
  • Live life in real, transparent, uplifting community  with members of the body of Christ,
  • Learn how to eat on a $3/£2 a day budget,
  • Be ready at a moment's notice to lead a children's game, teach English, sing worship songs, preach or do anything else required of you,
  • Write, take pictures and make videos that showcase what you've been doing,
  • Make up your own fun when left with nothing to do and nowhere to go,
  • Learn how to sleep anywhere,
  • Learn how to live with only enough stuff that you can carry it all by yourself at once,
  • To choose joy in every situation,
  • Honour, prefer and show consideration to everyone,
  • Eat anything, however strange, set in front of you,
  • Decide that you want at least one tattoo,

…since 2007.
