I come from a small town in the mountains of Colorado. The air is pure and the water is clear. I was born and raised in Breckenridge, a ski town that sits in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. I was born into a family of two loving parents and four siblings. I am the the second youngest. My mother was a lieutenant and head of the SWAT team in her district before she retired to become a full time mom (five kids, enough said). My father was a lawyer. He was a prosecutor who mostly dealt with sexual assault offenders. My family was living near Denver at the time, and my father grew out of the suit and tie, and living at a desk lifestyle. He decided to move up to the mountains shortly before I was born. He started his own construction business building custom homes and remodeling.
I’m incredibly blessed to have grown up where I have. It’s unbelievably beautiful, and it’s a very physically active community. I grew up playing a lot of different sports. I mostly focused on hockey and skiing, where my dad started me as soon as I could walk. I grew up going to church and we went as a family a lot of Sundays. But if we weren’t in the pew, we were riding up the chairlift to go make some turns.
My family was always very busy, there was always something going on. And as a result, a hectic lifestyle has become normal to me. Around middle school, I started listening to Jimi Hendrix and my life has never been the same since. I fell in love with music and started pursuing music with all I had. High School came and so did temptation and experimentation. After a lot of twists and turns, I finally came to Jesus, and slowly started following Him. I always believed He was real my entire life. I would doubt His power sometimes, but I knew He was real. But not until the last few years did I really start following Him and believing what He has told me, and told all of us. That I’m loved, I’m His beloved, and I have been made to perfection in Him, and I was chosen before the foundations of the world. These truths have changed my life dramatically. I have abundant peace and joy in my life. I no longer chase the vanities of life because He is my Provider.
Since then, I went to Timberline Bible School, which is in the mountains about two hours away from my hometown. I grew much more deeply in love with Him, and grew immensely in my understanding of Him through the scriptures. Then I graduated from the school and traveled Europe. I fell a few times in my travels, and afterwards went back home to make some money and see where the Lord was leading me next. After what seemed like FOREVER(it was slightly over a year, which isn’t long at all, I was just being impatient) He showed me I was right where I was supposed to be that whole time, and then He gave me my next step, which is the World Race. I’m very excited about what He has in store for me and how He is going to change me with this adventure and trial. I’m leaving a lot of opportunities behind, but God has given me peace by reminding me of the truth he has spoken, written in Mark 10: 28-31. Read for yourself.
