To Make A Difference…

Missions can be exciting. The thrill of a new country, landscapes that can very minimally attest to God’s beauty and glory, the culture of others that give you such a sweet stench of humanity, and adventure, sporadic adventure.

Missions can also be very challenging. Missing birthdays, growth spurts, weddings, funerals, and much more. The sacrifice one must make in order to serve a people in a different land: laboring alongside them, sharing in their burdens, teaching them of the hope you’ve found in Jesus, undoing societal norms that prevent them from seeing the remnants of real freedom. Work. Missions is work. It is a work that while many have gone, many have also withdrawn and returned back to their own native soils due to weariness, traumas, lack, illness, grief, and so many other reasons.

There are however, some who have decided that through it all, they will remain on the field where so many do not go. I honor those who have gone, though they remained or returned home. The willingness to lay aside one’s life as they know it for any amount of time for the purpose of fulfilling the commandment to go, they are truly deserving of honor, for they are but a few. The harvest is plentiful all over the world, but the laborers are so much fewer overseas, especially where there are unreached people groups which make up more than a 3rd of the world’s population. To every 213,300 unreached people, there is literally 1 missionary.

Why am I sharing this information with you? Because Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” To those who are missionaries in their own land, I salute you. Your sacrifices to fulfill this commandment at home is not unnoticed. My appeal however, is to the family of God who understand the desperate need for more missionaries to travel to the places where others have not gone. With religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Animism,  Islam and others dominating a major part of the world, there is a yearning among all people groups for the truth. We are a people who fight against against injustice, and the injustice is that there are people who have not even got to hear the name of Jesus once. I won’t withhold the truth that carries so much life. My one voice may have minimal impact, but together we can accomplish anything. I am joining the World Race, but this is only the beginning for what God wants to do.

My field experience will enable me to learn from missionaries as I serve alongside them to reach a people so in need of Jesus’ love and redemption. It will also enable me to gain insight on the work that is being done, as well as allot me tools to better be able to mobilize and educate missionaries and leaders to better prepare one to go to the field, with less chance of experiencing burnout. This journey for me will be revelatory in what my role is as a missionary, for the call has been confirmed many  times, but the direct path is still unclear. Therefor, I will continue to walk by faith and not by sight as the Lord leads me, and today I invite you to partner with me to make a difference in the world.

I truly thank God for the early missionaries that answered the call to go. My faith in Jesus would not exist without that, and so I too answer the call. We all can do this together as one family, so I ask: Will you partner with me in populating Heaven with the same love that pursued us? Your prayers and financial support is worth way more than you may realize. Please pray about supporting me monthly, but your one time gift will be just as honored.
