Happy Thanksgiving!
Wait, it’s not November yet? Oh well, who says you have to wait until November 22 to give thanks this year?!
Being thankful is one thing that I have a hard time with sometimes, especially when life doesn’t go according to planned. It seems like it’s easier to just complain about what isn’t going well with my day. I wanted to be proactive about that this year, so I set a goal to write down at least 3 things that I’m thankful for everyday. It was rough in the beginning and I got around to it maybe once a week. However, it got easier as the months passed, and now I’m jotting down a few things every morning. Occasionally, I’ll even journal in more detail about why I was thankful, and those will be fun memories to look back on.
Cultivating a heart of gratitude can really change our outlook on life. The more we focus on and share about what we are grateful for instead of what we are displeased with, the harder it is for the Enemy to steal our joy.
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Here’s my challenge to you today: grab a little notebook or open a new note on your phone and jot down 3 things you are thankful for today. It could be as simple as “I’m thankful for the very breath in my lungs that God gave me this morning.” I would love to hear about some of the things that you are thankful for!
A little extra credit assignment for the superstars out there: write a quick thank you note to someone in your life this week. You never know how that simple gesture can really set off a ripple effect.
Happy Thanksgiving!
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever!”
1 Chronicles 16:34
