We made it to Lesotho!!
Life here is simple, beautiful, and full.
We’re living in the mountains of a small town called Mokhotlong and it is BREATHTAKING. Every morning my squadmates and I walk outside and say “GUYS. WHERE EVEN ARE WE?”
It’s unbelievably beautiful and peaceful here, and it’s the perfect place to rest, process, and serve.
Our days start at 7:45 for hospital ministry where we get to share a word and some testimonies. We get to pray with the patients there and share a little life together.
After that we head out to the church and school where we often clean and garden on the beautiful mountainside.
Along the walk there and back we get to stop and talk to the KINDEST locals I’ve ever met. They make us strangers feel like we’re home even in this tiny little piece of the world.
Some other ministries that we’re going to get to take part in is youth ministry, soup kitchens, and Sunday Church! Our hosts told us that every time we go to church we’re expected to have one person share from the Bible, and at least three testimonies. More specifically, they told us that they’ll likely just point to one of us to share so we better be ready! What a way to do it.
Our living situation is also pretty great! We’ve got a nice little home, some bunk beds, showers, and toilets! With that being said the water has been out since day two, but we’ve got a nice big water tank and some nice buckets to help us out with showering.
Everyday at 6 (African time) our hosts make us the most delicious dinners before having the evening off to spend at home. We have three teams here and so we get to spend our time laughing, talking, chilling, playing guitar, praying for each other, spending time with Jesus, worshiping – basically we get to do whatever we want and it’s so restful and fun!
But one of my very favourite parts of the day is tea time. Every evening my squadmates Morgan, Paige and I sit down at our kitchen table, pour some tea, trade our different cookies, and talk about life. It’s a sweet time of getting to know each other better, process the fact that we’re in Lesotho (WOW), and build each other up. Occasionally, when it’s not overcast, we even get to go outside into the chilly evening (it’s cold here, who knew?!) and look up at the sweet stars of the Southern Hemisphere. Being in the middle of the mountains in Lesotho makes for some beautiful skies, and I’m loving life.
Life here seems so sweet and having lots of downtime while waiting for our ministries to actually begin (again, African time) allows for lots of time to process and simply enjoy being where we are.
This month you can pray for us in a couple of ways!:
– To have continued favour with the locals so we’re able to point people towards Christ and His love for them
– To be an encouragement to the local Christians here
– To process everything we need to process because the World Race is a lot of good things lol
– For protection from spiritual attack so we’re able to walk most effectively with Holy Spirit to do His work!
