Swarming Angels
I want to share with you what God has been doing in me during the last week. Kat, one of my teammates and beautiful friends fell out of a cherry tree. She wrote an amazing blog that you can read here.
I want to share with you the angels and the mighty head of God that I have seen lately. Every morning we start out with intercessory prayer at the church. Wednesday morning was focused on the power of prayer and to be joyful always. (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18) Kat was on fire and she prayed so much, which is no accident. I felt the need to journal all the things I was thankful for in the form of a tree, which was also no accident. Although I am not an artist by any means I wrote something very important in those branches. “Your mercy and grace” are the words highlighted in my heart and played a special role in the events to come.

Wednesday was a typical day in the village. We had asked the contact the day before if there was any way we could help him. He told us maybe we could help him pick cherries the next day. Nature and climbing are our thing, so we were fine with it. Little did we know it would impact the rest of our lives. Both Kat and I climbed the tree while the rest of the team stayed on the ground to catch cherries when they fell. This tree was huge and so we thought, strong. Kat and I ended up on the same massive branch and were sharing a bucket to pick cherries. I was closer to the trunk and she was farther out. It was fun and we were enjoying ourselves. Until I heard a crack, a very loud painful crack, I turned around and reached out for Kat, screaming her name, but there was nothing I could do. I watched her fall, slamming down as her body tossed around. My heart stopped….I thought she was dead, and there was nothing I could do. She moved and said, “I lost all of my teeth”, my heart began to beat again and I praised Him because she was still alive. Although I was stuck in the tree and could not get down, God began to humble me. There was nothing I could do; I couldn’t save her, I couldn’t change it, and I couldn’t take her place. God was in control and there was nothing I could about it.
You see the angels carried her down that drop. They were swarming around her with peace and comfort. They took away the pain and gave her strength. They didn’t let go. They placed her where she needed to be, She didn’t fall one inch down on her neck or one inch higher on her nose and brain. No they carried her perfectly. A beautiful part of Gods plan to let His light shine in her. Some might ask,”why do bad things happen?” A question we all want to know but may simply just be answered by saying, its Gods plan and he will be most glorified through it. You see this story has pain in it but has even greater amounts of joy and peace.
As the day went on and we went from one hospital to another we see powerful changes in her mouth. She still feels no pain and its definitely not bleeding as bad as to be expected. Her peace is beyond any words could ever describe and I have no doubt that the angels were still holding her hand tightly and comforting her. Once she saw the doctors, they were stunned by the miracle that she is. Confused by the joy and the spirit she carries. As the days come along so do the miracles. Gods mighty hand is still holding her while the angels surround her rejoicing. Prayer after prayer is being answered. It is a beautiful thing to see the world lifting His name on high. Although Kat has many more visits to doctors in the months to come her spirit is rejoicing of God’s faithfulness. That He would choose her to shine His light in powerful ways. That He has given her the power and authority to walk in boldness of who He is. That when He says He is lighting up the darkness, He means nothing will stop Him. This wasn’t an accident.
His mercy and grace were holding her in that tree that day but He never let go. The words written that morning in my journal weren’t an accident but a promise. She will always be carried, chosen, and fought for by our amazing God. This is our God and the beautiful journey He has let me be apart of. I am not in control and its a humbling adventure to be on.
