Smiles

I heard that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. If this fact is true Moldovan’s might be one of the strongest sets of people in the world. Smiling isn’t normal here. Some say it is due to the Soviet Union times and others say Moldovan’s just don’t have emotions. So what do you do in a culture that doesn’t express happiness? You show them what pure joy is and where it comes from of course 😉

Yesterday I had the privilege and honor to share part of my testimony with 150 Moldovan youth. (Yes, growing and changing…I wasn’t even that nervous) I am not really sure how many smiles I saw but I do know it was more than I could count. Many of them came up to me and just wanted to know more.

How was I so happy and joyful after I have been sick all my life and after having to quit gymnastics (and of course I had to show them what handstands were, the other pictures were blurry sorry)? How was I not still angry with God? Why do I count it as a blessing? They just wanted to understand. They wanted what I have. All I could say was Jesus. Seriously, JESUS. I wake up praising Him with the breath I take and the beauty I see. “I will rejoice and be glad in it”.

I praise Him and never want to stop. After spending much time with them I learned how faithful God is. A smile is contagious. It truly changes others. Remember to be His light, just smile. It will bless others but it will also really bless you.
