Hello!
My name is Faith Beattie and I am currently a freshman at Messiah College and I got back this past may from the World Race Gap Year; 1st generation Gap A represent woo!! I live in a small town called Boiling Springs and went to a small high school. I have a large family; with 4 of us siblings adopted from China. I’m very thankful for the life God has given me here in America.
The world race has shaped me into the person I am today. There were so many hard times and happy moments on the race. I was pushed more and more out of my comfort zone. I was forced to confront the deepest and darkest parts of my heart and fully submit them over to God. I have made long lasting friendships. I have learned to unconditionally love my teammates and how to live in a Christ-filled community and pursue Christ-centered relationships.
During my time in Thailand, I applied to Messiah College. After much prayer and consideration, I am majoring in Biology with a concentration in biomed, with the intentions of hopefully furthering my education in Physician Assistant school.
I have seen too much, felt too much and heard too much for me to not be living my life tangibly helping people and bringing God’s kingdom to the “least of the these”. My desire for medical missions has grown as God has affirmed this calling for my life. My heart breaks for those who do not receive enough medical attention and I can’t wait to be a part of that change one day.
But I must remember that this life is not mine, I owe it all to him. We must know that the plans God has for us will far surpass the plans we try to make for ourselves.
