Sometimes revelations come in the oddest moments.
This one came last night as I was lying awake on my bed, praying for the pain in my throat to subside so I could go back to sleep. I dreaded each time I would have to swallow because of all the saliva collecting in my mouth. It finally hit me after a dozen excruciating swallows that I could spit the saliva out instead and spare myself the pain.
So now I’m lying on my bed, spitting into a towel every few seconds (my salivary glands were really active last night for some reason), and a second realization hits me: when Satan tries to feed us lies, we could spare ourselves a lot of pain if we spat them out instead of swallowing them.
A lot of the lies I’ve swallowed are ones about who I am (a self-centered person, incapable of looking outside of myself to love others) and my potential to change and to become the new creation that God says I am.
No more swallowing lies about who you are and who you were created to be… no more buying into these lies and allowing them to define you. Spit them out!
2 Corinthians 10:5 says “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I AM a new creation! The old HAS gone. The NEW HAS COME!
