In the couple weeks since I last updated:

* The girls spent a couple days organizing/moving a TON of wood that will be used for the houses being built.

There was plenty of sawdust flying around as the wind picked it up from the planks and blew them right into our faces. As each one of us took turns trying to rub/blink/cry the sawdust out of our eyes, I started thinking about how it is possible to have a whole log’s worth of sawdust in your eye! (Matthew 7:3-5) It reminded me of what I’ve been learning lately about having a heart of humility as I live in community and not  judging the people around me since I’m FAR from being perfect.

* I discovered how much I miss doing crafts and was unexpectedly blessed with getting to spend a day at Sunflower Design Studio, the sewing shop here at Caminul Felix that provides jobs for young people and helps raise money for the villages. Even though we spent the day organizing tons of fabric, thread and ribbon, not actually getting to make anything, it was fun to be around fun crafty things again.

* We spent a weekend in Budapest, Hungary! Since we’re only a 4 hour bus ride away, our teams took the weekend off to go exploring!

* We got to visit a gypsy community on the other side of Oradea. There we met a family who were Christian! Although we weren’t able to have much conversation and only had meager offerings of sandwiches and fruit to bring each family we visited, we did have the opportunity to share the reason behind our visit (God’s love for them) and to pray for the Christian gypsy family there. I’m praying for God to use that family in an awesome way in their own community! (funny sidenote – The family said that I look just like their oldest daughter! Who knew I had a gypsy twin!)

* We planted about a hundred trees along the border of the fields and got to mulch them with freshly digested grass from the dairy right next door.

* We’ve said our goodbyes to the amazing men and women that carry out the ground work at this awesome ministry.. from moms and dads, to the multiple Dans who have told us which holes to dig, to the joyful women at the sewing shop, to the teens and kids who have made our time here memorable.

It’s our last day here in Romania. We’re heading off to Moldova by train tomorrow.

We’re going to be with World Team in Moldova next month. More details to come later.
P.S. Our whole squad met our support raising deadline!!! Thank you so much for your support and your prayers!
