It’s that time again… when I pilfer other people’s SD cards to give you a little glimpse of our past month! I wish I could give you a more comprehensive view of all that we’ve gotten to see and do during our time in Phuket but unfortunately, I haven’t been very good at pilfering lately and this is all I have on hand for the moment. I am posting the latest (and first) edition of Erin and Annie‘s talk show (Hi and Welcome to …) at the end of this blog so you’ll definitely have to check that out! 🙂

In case you’re just checking in for the first time in a couple months, four of our teams were at SHE ministries in Phuket, Thailand this past month.

Every other night we would go out to the bars in Patong, a place well known for its night life.

We got to hang out at the bars and to get to know the beautiful people who worked there for one reason or another.

On our last night of ministry, we actually got to play at one of the bars! God made a way for us to be able to worship Him from the stage in the heart of this red light district.

During the day we did a couple of different things. On the days that we didn’t go out to the bars, we went to the new piece of land SHE Ministries recently acquired and helped with little projects to get the land ready for the bigger construction projects — everything from planting trees, weeding and attacking the tall grass with weedwhackers (or whippersnippers as Annie calls them).

One morning, our ministry contact, Mark, took us up to the Big Buddha. This huge statue, that was still under construction, could be seen on its hilltop perch from miles around. It was cool to gaze at the things that man has made and then to look away and see the hills and beaches that surround us. There’s nothing quite like a breath-taking view to make you realize that beauty created by the hands of men are nothing compared to our Creator’s artwork.

On the other days we would help with things around the SHE base. That included things like teaching English to the women who came for classes, baking cookies to sell, and doing fun craft things like mosaics,

handmade cards and jewelry making with beads.

It was really fun to get to know the local SHE staff! … This awesome lady, Owan, made all our delicious thai meals for us!

On our days off, we got to take full advantage of being in Phuket! … a place known for it’s beautiful beaches…

Here’s Erin and Annie’s video… There’s footage from the last several months we’ve had together on the Race. You’ll also catch my very awkward appearances every now and then. 🙂
