It’s been a while since you have heard something from me. Another month is gone. February started with a week of squad debrief in Kuala Lumpur where we had a lot of free time to explore the city besides debrief sessions. My team spent the other three weeks in Singapore. A city I can best describe as the New York of Asia. Westernized life of living. People are busy and reserved. Money rules. Modern and clean. A lot of laws. Expensive cost of living.

Two fun facts about Singapore:

1) It’s a FINE city. They have a lot of odd things that are illegal.

– Spitting: Fine up to 1’000$

– Walking nude at home: Fine up to 2’000$

– Feeding pigeons: Fine up to 500$

– Littering: Fine up to 1’000$

– Jaywalking: Fine up to 1’000$

– Eating or drinking on the metro: Fine up to 500$

– Drink-driving: Fine up to 5’000$

– … the list continues …

2) The customer is never right! Totally the opposite from what I am used to: The customer is always right. New experience to not be in the right even I felt I should be.

There I was. We had ATL month, so no ministry to work with. I was ready to go. I was ready to serve. To make connections. I was ready to be the move of God and not waiting for the move of God. Because we’ve got the Gospel to preach. We’ve got broken hearts to bind. We’ve got hurt people to be healed. I was ready to move!

But it ended up being different than expected. I met people but did not make ministry connections. I got to know a blind man but could not pray for him for healing. I went to the Heart of God Church I always wanted to go one day but there were not ongoing relationships formed. And so on. At first sight it didn’t appear that the evidence was all around that the Spirit of the Lord was there. But the evidence was all around, just not in visual forms. He was working inside of me and most of my teammates.

One day I was sitting in public on a bench. People were walking all around. I asked God what I was doing here in Singapore. Time seemed wasted to me. Suddenly, he reminded me of his name ‘El Shaddai’ – ‘He is sufficient enough’. He asked me: “If all you have in Singapore is me, is it enough? Am I enough for you?”

In all of my expectations and me being ready to be the move of God I forgot the following:

God IS in this place! He is already here even when it’s not evident at first glance. He is waiting for me to realize that Him being here is enough. I don’t need to impress Him. I don’t need to impress others (with doing this and that, with performing).

It’s all about him being here.

It’s about him being sufficient enough.

Always. Wherever.

After I proclaimed this with all of my heart I realized something else. God revealed to me my purpose in Singapore, that time was not wasted, that he is actually using this time to prepare me for greater things to come I can’t see now. Read more about that in my next blog post.

To move doesn’t always look tangible. Sometimes it’s under the surface for ourselves not visible to see. But God is willing to reveal to us the process we are going through. Sometimes our moves are under the surface for people not visible to see. But God sees them. And that’s essential in the end. And sometimes we keep our eyes closed and don’t see how God is moving in BIG but invisible ways.

My team has an awesome testimony in how God provided in ways for us we would have never expected! We wrote down Big Prayers on a piece of paper. Prayers, God laid on our hearts to pray for. Almost every morning we came together to pray our Big Prayers and to pray for family, friends and personal requests. God put prayer requests together in wonderful ways. We had free lodging and free food the whole month (with a wonderful family at a wonderful place!) for that we could use our extra food and housing money to bless a local God laid on our heart in a big way. We received in generosity and abundance for that we could give away in the same manner.

YOU ARE MOVING NOW!
