Soon I’m a month away from home. It was a month of letting go, making new experiences, seeking adventures, serving people and enjoying good team times.

During this month, people at home asked me a tons of questions about my life here. If you’re curious about some questions and my answers, then this blog is perfect for you.

1) What do you miss the most from home?

First, the bread! You can tell me whatever but the bread and its variety in Switzerland is the best!

Second, my selection of clothes. Here, I’m wearing one pair of pants and the other is in the laundry. That changes every couple of days. Shirts and Sweaters repeat themselves as well. I’m not complaining, I’m just realizing the blessing of all my luxuries at home.

2) Don’t you miss your sleeping room for yourself?

Not really, or maybe not yet. I thought about that how wondrous it is because we really don’t have any disputes so far. It helps, that all of us are easy-going.

3) Are you going to get a tattoo in every country?

Noooo! I can’t imagine myself with 11 tattoos.

4) How do you feel with the language?

It’s a really good learning place for me. I can not only practice my English, I’ll finally be able to really empathize with my students when they struggle with learning anything. So I’m doing good but I still need patience to feel at ease in this language and in this community.

5) How is the weather?

A lot of people think that it’s very warm here….that’s wrong! During night the temperature drops down to 2-5 degrees. In the morning you still feel this cold air. Slowly it gets warmer and the temperature rises in the afternoon up to pleasant 18-20 degrees. Once on a rainy day, our whole team was freezing because the temperature just rose up to 8 degrees during the whole day. Even 5 layers weren’t enough!

6) What do you do on your days-off?

We spent these days as a team. Three times we went to Santiago City. One weekend we spent a night in an apartment on a beach in Valparaíso. It’s a city full of street art, totally charming to strolling through these streets. The days-off were always enjoyable times to come together outside of the ministry….including spoiling ourselves with a good meal.

Last but not least two fun facts of my daily life with my teammates:

1) Americans LOVE peanut butter. I mean the really do! Anytime! Anywhere! With anything!

2) Air Drop! That’s why I should have an IPhone for transferring all the cool pictures anybody takes. I can’t hear this word anymore because I really do love having all the pictures, too. Crap!

Further travel plans:

2th-6thSeptember, we have debrief as a squad in San Pedro, Atacama Desert. That means all four teams come together and have some funny but also intentional time with each other.

7thSeptember, every team makes their own way up to Peru.
