In one of the afternoon class, our lecturer explained her paper that talks about the connection between God’s mission and concern for justice in Bible. We were discussing God’s response towards injustice situation that happens in Old Testament from Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Samuel, etc. We learned on how people react to God and God’s intervention in response to injustice situation. Our common mindset as Christian to God’s mission usually only focus on redeeming sinners from the curse of hell and giving people new destiny in heaven, and those who were concerning social issues, justice, and liberation were in danger of drifting away from the true gospel. Therefore, some people like us may struggle to relate social activities and theology. And as we read the book of Exodus, it is shown that God’s journey with Israelites started when the oppressed people cried for help to God. The Israelites cried against injustice and violence they were in, and in response to that, God heard them. Chris Wright in his book “The Mission of God’s People” gave us a glimpse of insight into the holistic nature of mission. The Bible is fundamentally about the mission, and might as well the product of that mission as well. We are not just people who “do missions” for God, but God himself is a missionary God, and we have the immense privilege in being incorporated into and involved in the mission of God.

Through that, we learned it is necessary for us to cry to God for injustice, not because this cause relates to Christianity or some individuals or groups are being persecuted because of their faith. Yes, we are also encouraged to pray for them, but we are also encouraged to pray, to cry, to plead to God for the injustice that is currently happening in any social issues due to bad educational system, political victimization, cultural diversity, dreadful tradition and moral ethics. This topic reminded me of this upcoming mission trip which I’m about to embark. It is not because these people are under particular community that I am engaged with, but it is because God’s mission as applied to humanity involves the restoration of human beings spiritually, relationally, physically, and socially, so should ours. We must not see missions as some kind of small theme in the Bible, but rather as central to God’s purpose, I guess.

Quick Update on The Mission Trip
Yeay! Some quick update on my upcoming mission trip. After going through several discussion with my parents and some consideration to my current circumstances, I decided to shorten the trip by two months and chose to join the team when they are in Malaysia and Thailand. So, It’s going to happen in two consecutive months, which is in April and May. Ohh noo, it’s only about three weeks to go from now~~ So nervous.

Support and God’s Providence
THANK YOU! Thank you for all prayers, moral support, financial support, any support that you all been giving! It is awesome to know that I have you as the team to support me in taking the action of a cause and partake in this mission ministry. On the other side, on fundraising progress, it is amazing that I am able to witness God’s promises that He will provide. Yes, we had raised more than $2,000.-!!!! Wohoooo!! Which means it’s more than enough than we all been expecting!!! Lovely! Lovely!!

But then again, please please please continue praying for this upcoming mission trip!
Because that’s what we all need.
Here is the prayer request!

Please pray for not letting the platform take the place of the mission, the spiritual preparation and development of the team, the flexibility of the team, the health, safety, and travel of the team, the spiritual wisdom and loving service of the mission team, the Spirit to open blinded eyes and that unbelievers would see Christ in all of his glory, the spiritual development, strength, and growth of the partner churches and missions that the teams will work with.
