Hello all! For those of you who know me, HEY! For everyone else let me introduce myself. My name is Evan Bobbitt, and I am from Watsonville CA. You can probably tell from this page what I’m going to say next… Im going on the World Race!
How Did I Hear About The Race?
I heard about the World Race while doing a mission trip in Mexico. My cousin and I were making a highlight video for the trip and turned to YouTube for a little inspiration, and one of the first videos we watched was the World Race Promo. Were were both pretty dumbfounded at the video, and over the next week it was all I could think about. After much consideration and prayer I applied and have been accepted to attend the World Race!
Where Am I Going?
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip that goes to 11 different countries. My race will be taking me to Dominican Republic, Haiti, Costa Rica, Panama, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
What Am I Going to Do?
No two countries on this planet are exactly the same. All of them vary in many ways that span from people, religion, politics, war, geographic challenges. With so many differences it would be foolish to treat them all the same. For that reason life on the race is going to be very different from month to month. We will be doing everything from disaster cleanup, to church building, to helping with poverty, to ministering to sex trafficking victims. Every place, and every person will be totally different.
So Can I Do It?
Short answer, no (at least, not by myself). I recently ran across something I’ve heard before but just hit me like a ton of bricks… God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called. I think that pretty definitevly defines me right here. I am NOT qualified to do this if you look at my financial status, or my experience in church planting, or any of the dozens of other things that will surely be asked of us on the trip. I can fix a computer, talk your ear off about the Giants, I’ve been to an orphanage quite a few times and I’ve walked around the mountains… that doesn’t mean I can do this. The costs are big, and a lot will be asked of me that will stretch my abilities and my comfort zone. However, I have been called to do this. I believe God will provide a way, connect me with people to help me, and be there for me when I’m far away from home and feel lost. I need your help to be that prayer. Which leads us too…….
How Can You Help?
That is a great question! This is definitely one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made, and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do through my over this next year. Above all I need prayer! We will be traveling a lot and interacting with a LOT of different people. We need prayer for safety as we travel, and communicate with people. The other big thing is there is a pretty big money block in the way. I am confident that this is something that God is calling me to do and I know that He will provide. I am asking you to pray about it, and if you are also being called to give that is a huge blessing to me, and the work we will be doing over the next year! So please PRAY! and if you are feeling called to give a donation to help you can SUPPORT ME HERE!
