As most of you know, traveling and other cultures are passions of mine. My parents moved our family overseas when I was a young girl and through many moves since, I’ve developed a strong resilience to change and an interest in the world. I enjoy being immersed in new environments and hearing stories from people in different contexts. I’m doing the World Race because it merges my passions with a purpose bigger than myself, and that is to love people the way God loves them.

The City Church, now known as Churchome, has truly been just that- a home for me and a place for my faith to grow. In February of 2016 I went to Guadalajara, Mexico to serve at our church campus and in their local community. About a year later, I was baptized at my church and developed more interest in mission work. Just a few months later in June, I went to Nepal with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and spent three weeks with a team, training and trekking in the Himalayas to reach rural villages. After returning home I was reminded of a conversation I had with a friend about her close friend doing the World Race and that’s where the idea originally came from.

Not only will the World Race foster healthy personal growth through times of discomfort and team building, but it will mobilize my ability to help people. As a teacher you constantly strive to do better and be better for your students. I want to bring that same drive to the mission field. I want to utilize the gifts bestowed to me to love people and make a lasting influence.
