It’s probably one of the most common questions I’ve been asked on the race, “How did you get the money for something like this?”

The answer is simple, but there is more to it.

I believe that because God called me to go on the World Race, He has made a way for the funds to come in. Yet, I let moments of fear crept in, making me question HOW raising the full amount was actually going to happen. It’s a fine balance to actively walk in faith without striving and wanting to take control of the “how” part, but to also not just sit idly waiting. And those times led me to address my heart posture towards fundraising, to put faith above fear.

Towards the end of reaching my fully funded amount, I felt as though I’d exhausted most ideas. I had reached the final deadline with over a $1,000 left to go. I originally thought the final amount would come in through a company match just prior to the due date, but it fell through. I was surprised, but concluded it just wasn’t God’s plan. He wanted me to trust Him even deeper. After cutting the remainder in half through my birthday fundraiser, I sensed it was time to intentionally ask people for support.

On the race, sometimes squads get the opportunity to meet up with another squad in the same country for “An Awakening.” We had one in South Africa and I sought out a friend who I knew I wanted to pray with about raising the final amount left. I told her that God placed a couple people on my heart to reach out to, and she responded by saying, “Well maybe they’ll cover the amount in full… Let’s pray.”

The next time I had wifi, I opened my email to send messages to those particular people and saw that I had already received an email from one of them asking how much more I had left to raise- how cool I got a confirmation to ask?! So I replied back and asked them to pray about supporting me.

While sitting on my own in the Johannesburg airport eating pizza, I popped on wifi before our flight and saw my friend’s response that they’ll be covering it IN FULL!!! It was the sweetest feeling of expectancy being met.

Back in Philippines someone told me, “God is seldom early and never late.” I’d like to add in that God delights when He “arrives” in those moments of expectancy. He showed so much grace to meet me in my fear, right where I was at. And also tested my faith to strengthen it when the first scenario didn’t work out.

Not only was getting funded a blessing to me, but also to the person who gave out of the love and obedience to God in their own heart. And that blessing has been multiplied to all the people I’ve met and have been able to love this year.

So that’s how I got fully funded!

If you are reading this and you’ve supported me on the world race, please know how grateful I am to partner with you. Your contribution has made an impact beyond yourself. Thank you for your generosity. God will bless you because of your cheerful giving.

If you are reading this and plan to go on the race, find a friend to step into the process to pray with you and impart their faith onto you in times where your fear seems bigger than your faith. Or go out there and be that friend to someone else.

Peace and Love,
