It’s been my very first week in El Salvador and I have never been more content. I can start by saying I have eaten seemingly hundreds of pupusas and have had a crazy adventure already. We started our first day on a rest day and drove out to Lago De Cuatepeque – a sunken volcano that has turned into a crater lake. We visited the cities and found beautifully made cathedrals, walked the streets to find new adventures, and ended the night by a pick up basketball game with some locals. I have enjoyed every minute.

As far as ministry goes, we began by sitting in our very first church service in the Baptist Tabernacle Church listening to the head pastor welcome us. He followed by saying I was in charge of the music on Sunday – a 20 minute set in a non – English speaking church. But, I did and it turned out to be a wonderful time of worship. The beauty of that picture is that though we can not speak to one another because of a language barrier, we serve the same God and he hears our praise no matter our language.

We ended the last 4 days of our ministry doing street evangelism, service work on the church’s new land, loving on kids, and spending time in hospitals praying over the sick. The Lord is already beginning to teach me His word in new ways – what it means to abide in God and His love, and our obedience to His commandments and being imitators of God.

Dwelling on this scripture this day.

“See what what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”

1 John 3:1
