Women Need Women

Today, I met with one of my mentors, Rozy McCormick for coffee. I have been meeting with her for nearly two years and have loved every moment! Rozy inspires me to identify who I am in Christ and walk it out with authority.

Last week I met with Amie Bokelman for Thai food. Amie is an amazing woman of God that I have been meeting with for more than ten years now! Amie encourages me to find joy in my walk with Christ: to resist the lies of the enemy and walk in truth.

Tomorrow I am meeting with Betsy Garmon for lunch. Betsy will be my coach while I’m on the World Race. She and I have only had a couple conversations, but already I have learned from her how to identify thoughts in the making that need to be taken captive before they fully form.

And then there’s my mom, for the past twenty-six years she has been pouring into me. She has listened to my every heartbreak, wiped away my tears. She’s helped me find laughter, and has shown me how to shake off the heavy stuff.

These women act as my soundboard. I can barely figure out what I’m doing half the time, and without their voices I think I’d be lost more times than not. I need these women in my life. They have more experience, they have gone through heartbreaks, and have learned how to navigate life in a way that honors the Lord. I’d be a fool not to listen to them. I’m so grateful! I plan on listening to them even when dementia gets the best of themsmiley

For all the ladies out there reading this I encourage you to pursue relationships with other women, older than yourself if possible. You can’t lose anything in it and you’ll gain more than you could imagine from it.
