Can you believe it’s already Thursday of the last week of camp? This week we’re in Mamelodi, about an hour’s drive from where we are staying near Pretoria, South Africa. The kids are wonderful. I have 7-year olds. They are super cute! They come from very poor communities—what you probably think of when you think of Africa like the ‘sponsor a child’ commercials on TV. Only one of the 20 kids I’ve worked with speaks any English. But they “get it.” They truly feel the love of the Lord overflowing from us. I’ve been praying that God’s love will overflow from me—and He’s doing it.
You can tell the kids are affirmed in His love. And today (Tuesday, July 10, 2007) with the salvation message, several of the kids prayed to let Jesus’ blood cover their bad things (sins) to make them clean on the inside. I could tell they were sincere.
This week I have a translator! He’s amazing, and I can tell He truly loves the Lord. He’s a 16-year old in the community, so he knows these kids and where they are coming from. Today after I walked them through the South African flag and the wordless bracelets (using colors to share the salvation message), my translator friend began sharing the colors directly. I affirmed him—”go for it; walk through it with them.” Please
pray for my translator friend that he will have funding to go to college, and most importantly that he will be a Godly example and leader in his community and his country.
Thank you for your prayers for today’s salvation message! The
Lord truly answered, seeing many kids come to know Him. Please
pray that seeds planted today in ‘my kids’ hearts will grow—like the fertile soil in Matthew (and not snatched away, or choked up, or withering away). Today I was able to pray over each one of ‘my kids’ that they will become men and women of God, fearing and serving Him, leading many others to Him. Today I challenged them to share the Good News with their friends using their new wordless bracelets.
We will soon know where the Lord is leading us for the next week and a half…I’ll keep you posted as I know more (when we have an internet connection). Please
pray with me & my small team for discernment, logistics, safety, etc.
