Hey yal, just a quick note to say I’m in Cambodia now. After a few bus rides that totaled 16 hours, we traveled from Bangkok to Phnom Panh (Cambodia’s capital). We will be staying here for a few weeks, working with a local church.
We were given a city tour, seeing the killing fields and prison sites of the late 70’s…Crazy to think that all happened so recently. I knew very little about Cambodia until about a day before coming here. Cambodia is a very “heavy” and “hard” place, spiritually bound, and still healing from its recent war-torn history. 1998 was the first year of peace here in over a few decades. But the people are great– super friendly, smiling.
I need to be brief, as it is getting dark out so I need to leave. But I wanted yal to know I was alive and well. I hope to blog a lot in these next few weeks, since most likely November and December will be very limited in blogging, as we head to a closed country. However, please note, Cambodia’s internet connections are VERY SLOW, coming in a close second to Swaziland’s worst connection. So please have patience as I’m behind on emails and such.
