If you know me well, you probably know that God makes His Word come alive to me through Spirit-given analogies.  Some analogies are deep.  Others are ordinary.  Some touch many lives.  Others are meant just for me.  But how vividly each one speaks to me!  As we journey together over the next year or so, I’m sure you’ll read many of these; my first analogy I’ll share occurred just this week.

Monday early morning, cold crisp -6F air, fresh snow had fallen all night; diving to work, traffic was light due to the governmental holiday.  The sun began to rise, and with it, two rainbow-colored lines illuminating from the horizon on either side of the sun, just as if Someone had painted them.  As the sun became brighter, the rainbows also brightened and even lengthened.  Heading east, I enjoyed this view the entire car ride, praising the Lord for His beauty.

Immediately, the Spirit revealed an application–for now, for future, for past.  The day before I blogged about trusting our faithful God with certain hope.  (See Morning Encouragement).  Through the Monday morning beauty of rainbow-colored lines, as with Noah (Genesis 8), God promised certain hope of future in Him (Jeremiah 29:11-13), in joy-filled and challenging times.  I only saw fragments of the rainbows, just as I only see pieces of what lies ahead.  Yet God is faithful!  And as the Son Jesus gets brighter in my life, so does my certain hope in Him.
