F squad was together at the beginning of the month and celebrated a big family Christmas party together. Squad leaders were reindeer for the night! π
We stayed in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur for debrief. Normally it was bustling with people and vendors but this was taken on the way back from a late night excursion to…
…the Petronas Towers!!
They were so beautiful at night.
I then traveled to a small town to live in a work in a church with…

…the hilarious and spunky, Team Aleph!
Our living space for the month!
One of our main ministries all month was Christmas caroling with members of the church to not only Christian, but Hindu homes all over the town.

See: Spreading Cheer until 2 in the morning?!?! π
It always ended up a dance party with drums, whistles, shouting and whooping before praying for the families.
We loved our hosts, Ebenezer and Divia!
Including the precious kiddos we got to play with all the time.
We built relationships with friends inside the church

As well as out. This is Sita, a beautiful lady who I helped serve in the kitchen with at the House of Hope. We were able to go and help and serve at the HOH which is a facility for the mentally and physically disabled.
Sweet Jerusha! π
Many of our projects revolved around Christmas.
One of our jobs was decorating the church for Christmas.
Sometimes ministry looks like getting your hands dirty with glue and glitter!!
Jake created a logo for the church and not only made a big glitter globe to put up in the church, but were able to paint it on the wall of murals upstairs! π
Christmas Eve was full of surprises! The church and visitors were surprised and excited to see the Americans do the traditional dance we learned in secret and we also surprised them by performing the Lighthouse Everything Skit which was very powerful.
We were also surprised by the women sharing their personal attire and dressing us up in traditional saris for the night!
Christmas Eve service went until 1:30 in the morning and then we had dinner potluck style outside of the church.
On Christmas Day we were invited to numerous houses to share in a meal so we enjoyed spending time with families and in between having a bowling adventure with our host!
Although Christmas looked very different for us all, we still spent it with loved ones!
Our last day of ministry found us on the Island of Penang, participating in our hosts annual family reunion.
The day was filled with over 100 people, competition games, prizes, laughter, rice and curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner and prayer over our host and the church.
The squad got back together at the end of the month for a mini debrief. This was a free afternoon where a few of us went hiking through the jungle to turtle beach.
On the way, we got to walk among the tops of the trees on the canopy bridge!!
Finishing off strong in Malaysia.
Thank You Lord, for letting Your light shine in Malaysia!!
