Family, friends, strangers…
Anyone interested in taking the next step into experiencing a grand adventure with the Lord….
….are you ready for an Expedition?!?!
According to the super cool dictionary app on my handy, dandy iPhone, the definition of “Expedition” is this:
An excursion, journey, or voyage made for some specific purpose, as of war or exploration.
Makes me think of Lord of the Rings….
But let’s face it…..for most of us, our lives are far from the definition of an expedition. Perhaps in our minds, an “excursion” is heading to the nearest grocery store to buy milk….or a “journey” is equivalent to a few weeks spent dedicating ourselves to losing a few pounds. Maybe our “purpose” becomes trying to keep the peace in a family that is constantly at war for some reason or another.
Although life is certainly full of the ups and downs associated with a journey, I dare to challenge our subconsciously shallow views of the expedition in our individual lives.
Life IS an adventure – a timeless expedition, pursuing the Father’s heart, if only we would have the audacity to change our worldly mindset into Kingdom perspective.
When you decide to take a voyage – a journey of good versus evil – the specific purpose is a charge to rise up and fight in the spiritual war raging in our day to day lives.
The specific purpose is becoming more and more familiar as we explore the heart of a God who has created us to be a part of His magnificent story.

Seven months ago, while I was still on my Race, a squad mate sent me the newly released World Race routes that would be launching in January, 2016.
Upon telling her that I was immediately drawn to a specific route, she sent me the description of it……she said it was called “The Expedition” Route.
I knew if God was calling me to lead another squad, this had to be the one. There was a hitch of doubt in me though. I took it to the Lord and told Him I didn’t want to do it out of pride or for my own selfish gain or ego. I prayed about it, and prayed some more.
As I started to pursue it, I said, “Lord, YOUR will be done, not mine.”
When I felt like He told me, “Yes. This is your route,” I admittedly started growing more and more hesitant.
First off, I get nervous when I feel like God speaks in such specific terms. Sometimes I’d rather He give me vague conditions, because honestly, it doesn’t take as much faith. But that’s not the faith He calls us to.
After a few months I still had wavering doubts running through my head, but I was determined to take Him at His word and act in obedience. Shortly after arriving home, I got a call from the AIM office, inviting me to squad lead for the Expedition Route.
Hence, the journey began.
The Expedition Route started not just with an invitation, but a desire to pursue before the invitation was even given.
Peter, standing in the safe confines of the boat, watching Jesus walk on water, was the initiator and actually asked Jesus to invite him to step out of the boat! Jesus extended the invitation…
“Yes. Come!”
I am convinced that no matter where you live, what job you have, what your day to day life looks like, whether you do missions around the world or not….your life CAN BE an expedition. A journey of adventure, war, struggles, victories, and miracles beyond your wildest imagination if you decide to rise up and join the Father in the battle for love. Pursue His heart, explore His character, journey with His people.
As He invites me into deeper levels of faith, harder acts of obedience, and a bigger focus of His Kingdom, I am learning to respond to His invitation to step out of the boat into an expedition.
Not just this Expedition Route around the world to spread His Kingdom, but an expedition of the heart to pursue Him on a deeper, more profound level than I ever have before!
Will you join me on this Expedition?!
He is waiting for you to ask so He can earnestly reply, “Yes. Come!!!”
