There is a picture of the Gordon family crest in our house which also bears the motto for the “Gordon” name. It is…
All for One and One for All!!!
This is a strikingly accurate description of my family.
To get to know me a bit better, you have to know a little about my family because they are such a huge part of who I am!
I thought it would be fun to introduce my family in order and explain some of the ways they have shaped me to be the person I am today.
If you already know the Gordon clan on a personal level, you may be entertained more thoroughly by the copious amount of pictures! π Enjoy!!
~Mom~
aka Chipley Gordon
When I think of Mom, the words that come to mind are dedication, commitment and sacrifice.
In the new and popular family movie Frozen, true love is explained as “putting someone else’s needs above your own”.
For 29 years, Mom has been putting the needs of her six children above her own!!
She is a picture of Christ to me…a living example of true love!
She homeschooled all six of us all the way through high school – now THAT is dedication!!
She also gave each of us a passion for horses…
…and taught me how to ride π
Mom has shown me what Christ can do in a marriage and a family when He is put first!
She’s always been the one to say, “Fight the good fight!”
Mom has taught me that when relating to others, it’s better to be interested, not interesting!
She has shown me that serving can be fun!
She always told me, against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.
Mom has been known as “One tough chicky!”
Which allowed me to follow suit and be confident in myself…
…because she also taught me how to be a woman of grace (still in training! lol)
Mom taught me how to work hard.
She’s always believed in me and has been my biggest cheerleader in every area of life.
She taught me how to be a good helper… π
I’ve learned to enjoy the simple joys of life through Mom’s example.
Most especially, through Mom, I have gained an understanding on how true love is putting other’s needs before your own.
Mom is such an inspiration to me on so many levels and I can hardly explain the impact she has had on my life!! As a striving student of wisdom, I will close with a few significant quotes straight from my dearest mum:
“There is NO purpose in talking to or about someone unless it is edifying and uplifting to them.”
“You don’t want to pretend to be anything you are not, but you want to be everything you are!”
-Chipley Gordon
Thanx mum…I love you to the moon and back – maybe around the world and back is a better analogy at this point! π FandA!
