It’s almost October. What. How!?
I don’t even know how this second month has flown by, but I’ve got some really exciting news!
But, that comes a little later.
Just hang on tight & keep reading, only if you wish. 😉
I promise you, it’s good stuff.

So, month two of ministry has been split into 3 countries: Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.

We are currently in Guyana and this is the first time any World Race squad has been to this country. Our squad has split up again and each team has now gone to their different ministry locations.
However, my team (Sweet Heat) has been assigned to find Unsung Heroes this month so we are learning to depend on the Lord in a whole new way.
Unsung Heroes? What the what?
Yeah… I didn’t know what that was either. So let me explain what it refers to before I go on.
Basically, an unsung hero is a man or woman of peace who is already doing the work of the kingdom but has yet to be recognized by the World Race. This is where we come into play.
Our job for this month is to find and build relationships with unsung heroes (ministry contacts) so that future World Racers and teams can come and partner with them in the future.
We came into the month without having a game plan for where we would stay, what kind of ministry we’d be partnering with and basically no clue for how these weeks would play out.
Our only solution was to ask the Lord.
And that’s exactly what we did.

We spent our first morning together in prayer. Thankfully, we found a place to stay so that’s one less thing we needed to worry about. But, as for the rest of our time in Georgetown, we had no clue what we’d be doing.
That same afternoon, we decided to have a Bible study at one of coffee shops around here. As we walked toward the back room, this lady stared at us, wide-eyed and surprised, like she had just seen a ghost or something. She quickly came over and apologized for staring. Apparently, she thought Susan was someone she knew, lol. We started telling her a bit about why we were in Guyana and that was the beginning of what would be an incredible God encounter.
We met God at a coffee shop. This is why.
The lady, Jessica, came in and sat with us because she was interested in our work and she happened to be looking for volunteers. Long story short, she lives here in Guyana and has an ecological farm that has brought her connections with some of the indigenous tribes here.
As she went on, she told us how if all we get to see is Georgetown during our time in Guyana, then we will not fully experience Guyana. There is so much more than this city. One of the tribes that she is connected with still hunts with bow and arrows and still has traditional tribal wear. She said if we wanted, we could go with her and visit them this week because they are having a tribal festival and not even the Guyanese people have seen it.
UHM WHAT. THAT IS WILD.
We were all blown away as she kept talking because LITERALLY that morning we were asking God to give us some direction for this month and that same afternoon we met Jessica.
It’s even crazier because she wasn’t supposed to stay as long as she did at the coffee shop. So, if she had left any sooner we would’ve never met her.
We were all so excited as she kept talking about these indigenous people groups, but the cost to travel to the interior where they live was out of our budget…
We thought about how to raise some money in such short notice, and after contacting some people back home, someone decided to FUND ALL OF OUR COSTS!
PRAISE GOD!
So tomorrow morning, we are heading out with Jessica for 2 days and visiting the interior of Guyana to meet the indigenous people!!! It’s so wild how it all happened, but it began with us just making space for God to move. We don’t need to ask Him to show up because He always us. All we had to do was show up.
Stay tuned for a part two of this blog after we return from this little trip and keep us in prayer! We don’t know what to expect, but we believe God has opened this door for us to walk through.
To be continued…
