Welcome to Erin’s World Race Blog!

Thank you for coming to my blog to learn more about my crazy life and adventure!

Eleven facts about Erin

One. I am a nerd. I’m an Information Systems major. I do math for fun. But grammar is not my thing so, I apologize in advance.

Two. Born and raised in Texas, Y’all.

Three. I have mad dancing skills. When I say mad, I really mean that I prefer my embarrassing “Mom-like” moves over my 16 years of being classically trained in dance.

Four. The only nickname I’ve had is S’mores. This is my camp name at a summer camp, where I worked for 3 summers.

Five. I put Buddy-the-Elf’s Christmas spirit to shame. I’m still debating on packing a Santa hat for the field next year.

Six. I keep a collection of quotes, Bible verses and words of wisdom in a journal that I carry around with me.

Seven. My walk up song would be “My life be like (ooh ahh)” by Gritz.

Eight. I love to go on adventures- kayaking, rope courses and running. Basically, I love anything that involves the outside…or Netflix.

Nine. My favorite colors are: turquoise, pink, gray and orange.

Ten. My little sister is my best friend. For life.

Eleven. I love to try and learn new things…like blogging.

Erin’s World Race

What is the World Race?

First off, it is not a compilation of 5Ks around the world.

The World Race is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering into the abundant life He promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world. It requires Luke 10-like faith.

Starting July 2015, I along with 5-7 teammates will travel the world to simply love like Jesus. We are abandoning the ideal, comfortable life to answer the call for something bigger than ourselves. We will be working with local contacts to preach, minister, work and serve his people. We are exposing ourselves to follow God’s playbook, to what He is doing in the world, before committing to the American dream. Because it’s not about us, it’s about God’s Kingdom.

Where am I going?

I will be serving in Eastern Europe along with a great mix of Asian and African countries, including Ethiopia, one of World Race’s newest countries. My adventure starting July 2015 is:

  • China
  • Philippines
  • Malaysia
  • Thailand
  • Cambodia
  • Uganda
  • Rwanda
  • Ethiopia
  • Romania
  • Bulgaria
  • Albania

How can you help?

This opportunity will challenge me in multiple ways, and transform me as I bring my guard down. In order to go on the race, I will become vulnerable and learn that I cannot do this by myself. God is already teaching me that through Him, this vision can become a reality, but the only way this will become possible is to ask for help from people like you. The people who want to walk alongside with me on this journey and will be my cheerleaders, my warriors, my friends and my community.

The first way you can support is through your prayer. I am asking for spiritual support from you. Prayers are awesome, and powerful. I ask that even though God knows what’s on our hearts before we do, I will share my worries and if you feel free to pick as many of these requests to lift up. I am praying for: God’s timing, patience, our hosts/sponsors/translators, World Race Staff, my squad mates, for strength, peace and faith, and lastly, the people we haven’t met yet, but will within the next year.

In order to take this opportunity I have to raise $16,266 to cover all my expenses. I will be updating my blog on all fundraising opportunities, along with my progress leading up to my launch.  If you feel led to donate already you can click Support Me! There you will find instructions on how to donate and all donations are tax-deductible.

Lastly, I invite you to travel through this journey with me. I want to share this new chapter of my life with you. Please feel free to subscribe to my blog and share this experience of glorifying God’s love. For those who know me, you already know that I love to share and that, I believe in community. If you have a quote, a verse, encouraging words or anything of the sorts, please do not be afraid, I would love to hear from you. I even challenge you to share with me! I gladly look forward to any advice, tips or the “you’re crazy”s that the Holy Spirit will speak through you. I can tell you one thing already, this adventure will be crazy, humbling, life-changing, and filled with cheerful thanksgiving. I cannot wait to start this journey with you.

God Bless.
