On Friday morning my team set out for El Tejar to do ATL (Ask The Lord). After we prayed to ask God what He wanted to show us, we all talked about what we saw. I got the sound of running water and chickens, Rissa got a downward arrow, Malia got yellow lemons (not common here in Guatemala), and Junior (our translator) got music.
We had just finished at a house when an older woman came out of her house saying that she had hoped she would see some gringas that day. She showed Junior a piece of paper before inviting us into her house. She had a bucket water filer that she need help with. Thankfully, Junior had worked with water filters before and was able to help.
We were there for a few minutes when Malia came up saying she saw yellow lemons under the tree that was in the house. The water filter had been fixed and began to steadily drip, making the running water sound I had heard. Rissa saw an arrow pointed down on the actual filter. The woman’s phone went off, making the music Junior had heard. I saw that she had some chickens in the back. We saw all of these things in the span of maybe 2 or 3 minutes.
We explained all God had showed and led us towards to the woman. When we asked if there was anything she would like us to pray for, she said she was going to put her problems in our hands. Her son was in surgery while we were there because a motorcycle accident he had been in a few days before. She had trouble with her kidneys and general sickness. She was wearing a wrist brace because it hurt from breaking it several years ago. She broke her pinky and the finger next to it on both hands over 30 years ago in an earthquake, and she hasn’t been able to move them since.
We told the woman that God was going to be the one to hold her problems in His hands. We prayed for her and her son. We asked if her wrist was causing any pain in that moment. She said yes, so we prayed again. When we finished, she said the pain was much better. She had a smile on her face, asking us to please come back again.
That was the first time that multiple people had seen what God had shown them in the same place. I t was truly amazing. Almost like God had put a giant “THIS IS WHERE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE” sign above the door. Some things don’t always make sense when we follow God. I mean running water, yellow lemons, a downward arrow, music, and chickens don’t really seem like what God would use to share the gospel, right? He does though. After all, God works in mysterious and wonderful ways.
I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.
