“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” -Philippians 4:4-5

Some things that make me smile: my family and friends, dogs (specifically mine, Jade), hearing about God’s miracles, being outside, a straight horizon, sunsets, a child’s laugh, watches, exploring new places, quality time, tiny homes, hammocks, sweet tea.

Hi there! Thank you for taking a chance to check out my blog. I am new to this whole blogging thing and have never before really considered having a blog. However, I am excited for the new challenge and to be able to share my thoughts and journey with everyone.

A bit about me…

I am from the ever-exciting town of Springfield, Mo and have lived there my whole life. I graduated from Kickapoo High School in 2014 and then went to Evangel University to pursue a degree in Elementary Education, along with Special Education and Spanish. I will graduate with my Bachelor’s Degree in December 2017, a month before launching out (so yeah, this next year may look a little crazy!).

God has blessed me with a wonderful community of support and love. I have an incredible family, amazing friends, an uplifting campus, and a supportive church that are walking through this adventure with me. Chances are, if you are reading this you are a part of that community. And for that I want to thank you.

To be completely transparent, my biggest fear in life is not allowing God to use me to my full potential. As humans, I feel like we often place our abilities in limits, which makes sense because we can only accomplish so much on our own. However, I strive to be a vessel through which Christ works. He is able to accomplish so much more through me than I will ever be able to do on my own. Why would I ever want anything less than that? My vision for my World Race is that I am able to become completely selfless so that God is able to use me to further His Kingdom in a radical way.

So why the World Race?

I first found out about the World Race two and a half years ago through a co-worker who had gone on it. As I looked into it and learned what it is all about, I could not get it out of my mind. Since then I have been praying about it and asking God to guide my steps, and now He has guided them to this point. I have 100% confidence that this is what the next season of my life entails and know that God will do amazing things. It has been a long process to get to this point, but now that it is reality it is very surreal.

I have been on two previous missions trips, both to Nicaragua. These trips gave me a different outlook on life and how I viewed the world. I am going on the World Race to experience this again, this time from multiple other perspectives. I want to see the world through the eyes of Christ. During His ministry, Jesus didn’t stay in one place for long. He went. He traveled from city to city, proclaiming true hope, showing real love, and performing miracles. I strive to become more like Christ; what a better place to start?

I also feel like having grown up in a first-world country, middle-class family I have never fully relied on God. I always knew that even if God didn’t show up, I was still going to be safe and have a meal to eat. By intentionally placing myself in situations where I have no other choice but to trust God, I hope to see Him in a new way. I trust that He will be able to reveal Himself in new ways and that my eyes would be opened to greater things.

Until next time…

So, that’s basically me. I’m sure there is a lot more to say, but I think that’s a good start. Feel free to subscribe to my blog if you would like to stay up to date with my journey and each time I post. Have a beautiful day!
