I have been blessed with an incredible team of ladies to share these first few months with. They are so amazing that I want you all to get to know them! So here is an interview with one of my teammates, Holly!

Holly loves to run and workout, so I thought this nice (staged) picture captured her personality well! I have loved growing closer to her and watching the Lord work in her life. She is full of so much wisdom, and she always knows how to put a smile on our faces! Here’s more about Holly…

  1. Where are you from?

The big city of Kennesaw, Georgia (outside of Atlanta)

  2. How old are you?

              22

  3. What was your major/occupation before coming on the race?

              I’m a psych major.

  4. How did you come to walk with the Lord?

I grew up in a Christian home but we didn’t go to church regularly. I didn’t really come to know the Lord until college. I went through kind of a desert season my freshman year and found the Lord by realizing that the purpose of my life was to love others, and that is the Gospel. So I jumped into a short term mission trip and a small group and really began walking in a relationship with the Lord from there.

  5. What is one thing you hope to learn or gain this year?

I hope to grow in how I hear the Lord speaking to me and seeing people the way He sees them.

  6. What is something about you that has changed since high school?

I was literally the most shy person ever in high school. I didn’t talk in class and hated meeting new people. I was basically afraid of my own shadow. Now I’m super outgoing and love meeting new people and doing new, adventurous things. I definitely flipped 180.

  7. What is a funny or unique fact about you?

One of the reasons I am unsure about running a marathon is because I just don’t understand how you pee when running for so long.

  8. What is one weird thing you miss about America already that isn’t family or friends?

I really miss large trash bags. Throwing everything away in a grocery bag is just very underwhelming and repetitive.

  9. What is your favorite thing that has happened so far?

I just really enjoyed our ATL adventure when we got on a train to an unknown destination. It really spoke to my adventurous soul. And the the Lord provided 10x what I was expecting. That was pretty neat.

  10. What does your key say? Explain a little

It says “Be.” I think it means that I need to focus on being present where I’m at instead of planning out the next steps or thinking about things back home.

  11. If you could go to any country (that we aren’t already going to) where would it be? Why?

I really want to go to Nepal. Even though it’s really cold and I don’t love the cold, it just looks beautiful. The mountains just scream the magnificent work of our creator.

  12. What has been your favorite food that you have eaten so far?

Martabak which is basically like someone took 3 pancakes and squished them together, melted oreos on top of them, then took three more pancakes and squished them on top. It’s phenomenal and probably the heaviest food I have ever eaten in my life.
