Recently the Lord challenged me to grow in deeper dependence on Him. One way He called me into this was to make declarations over every day. Instead of praying and asking for things, He told me to declare in His name that they will happen. This allowed me to experience deep spiritual authority and feel the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of me. These are the current declarations that I make every morning:
Daily Declarations
-Today I will be patient and see everyone around me through a lens of love.
-Today I will be slow to anger and quick to give grace.
-Today I will have a childlike faith.
-Today I will serve selflessly, with wholehearted devotion and a willing mindset.
-Today I will surrender my pride to you.
-Today I will depend on you and you alone.
-Today joy will conquer.
This may seem silly or pointless.
How does uttering some phrases really make a difference?
But to me, it challenges me to have a deeper faith. When I declare these things in Jesus’ name, I gain a new sense of confidence in my prayers to Him that they will indeed happen. I know His boundless power, and I know that He hears every voice that calls on Him.
“And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” Romans 8:27
I have already seen such fruit come from making these declarations. This month is the hottest of the year here in Cambodia. The days are long, packed with teaching and lots of sweat. It feels like bugs are continuously crawling on me and I can’t even count how many bites I have. It can wear on you really fast.
I honestly believe that it is only because of these declarations that I have been able to see the joy of the Lord through it all. They have given me light, even in the dark moments. When I am tired and hot and am not exactly feeling it anymore, it is His joy and strength that have carried me through.
Each declaration I make is something that I struggle with on a daily basis.
Each declaration takes intentionality to remain dedicated to.
Each declaration will not happen if I don’t depend fully on the Lord.
What is He calling you to declare today?
