There are a lot of advantages that home really does have
over Africa like running water and electricity but one thing Africa has over
the States is an uninterrupted sky. No power lines, no airplanes, no sky
scrapers out here in the bush just sky from horizon to horizon with a few mango
trees scattered for a dazzling effect. In the evenings if there are not too
many brush fires around us filling the sky with smoke, the stars blanket the
sky with light and when the moon rises our headlamps are unnecessary. We are
always fully aware of the sunrises and sunsets since there is no tv or radio
competing for our attention. One of my favorite things to do during our quiet
time in the afternoon is lie under a mango tree and stare up at the clouds that
peek through at me from between the leaves. I am in awe of the beauty of this
place and the sky is just one of the canvases the Lord has chosen to daily
paint His faithfulness to His people.
