We made it to Costa Rica and I’m just finishing up my first full week on the Race! God has already done some incredible things in and through me and my team. There will be another blog to come this week with some stories of all that God’s doing but I first wanted to give you a glimpse into what life here in Costa Rica is like for us this month!
My team and I are serving at ZOE International Christian School which is a K-12 school that also runs a church for the surrounding community. Monday through Friday we teach classes at the school. I am teaching 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th grade English along with my teammate Victoria! We have 5 precious students in our 1st and 2nd grade class and they definitely keep us on our toes. Teaching was something that I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy very much but I was so blessed yesterday as I got to begin planning lessons for my class this month and watch them engage in the things we are teaching them.
On Saturday afternoons, we help with the youth worship service at the church. This past Saturday was incredible as we worshipped with the students and got to experience God working and speaking through us as well. On Sunday mornings we attend ZOE Church and the congregation has already welcomed us with open arms. They are so full of the Spirit and so ready to love on us and pour into us which is such a blessing as we start out on the Race.
One of my favorite aspects of being in Costa Rica so far is how we have already made this place our home for the month. We have new friends over for dinner almost every night and we have started to build relationships not only with people from the church and school but also with people from the surrounding town that we have met.
Even though it has only been a week, we are really starting to settle into ministry and into life as a team. Each day we are going deeper with each other and deeper with the Lord and it has been beautiful to see the fruits of these efforts.
I am planning to blog twice a week this month as wifi permits but I wanted to start off with a little glimpse into my life this month! I will put several specific prayer requests below if you feel led to pray for my team and I over the next week. Also, I am still in need of financial support in order to stay on the field this year! My next deadline is November 30th where I will need to be at $13,000 which is only $2,500 away! Thank you so much for all of your support thus far and I know God will provide for the future!
Prayer Requests!
- Prayer for continued unity as a team! Things are going great so far so prayers for a continuation of this would be awesome.
- Prayers for the people of the church that we are serving in and that the Lord would continue to bless the relationships that we have started to build as well as provide new ones.
- Prayer as we start to settle into the reality of being on the Race and away from home, friends and family for 11 months.
