On March 12th, around 5:30 PM confusion struck the July 2015 Route 5 group. We received an email basically saying, “We will not be launching all five July routes. Because Route 5 has the fewest participants, we are asking that those currently on this route select from the remaining four routes.” From that moment on, our group chat blew up.

Instantly, I called a friend and drove straight to their house without even sharing what was going on. For nearly 4 hours, we prayed for clarity, looked through the remaining routes, compared them, and talked about each country. Route 4 had a wait list, so we compared Route 2 & Route 3. I felt a connection with Route 3, so I went ahead and sent an email reply saying I wanted to be swapped to Route 3 (Because I knew it was first-come, first-served basis).

Friday afternoon, I decided I would call my mobilizer to make sure I was switched over. ROUTE 3 HAD A WAIT LIST ALREADY. The feeling I felt is unexplainable. How did I mess around and miss out, how did THAT many people come so quickly before me, and what in the world was I suppose to do now?! (Just a few of the questions I asked myself) So, I went ahead and joined the Wait List and was the first one waiting.

After getting off of that phone call, I talked with my same friend that I met with the night before. After telling her everything that happened she asked, “What have you been praying for specifically?” My answer, “Clarity, that God would reveal to me exactly where he wanted me. That it would come quickly so that I can be transferred over to where I am suppose to be.” After I finished talking, she paused for a second and said, “What makes you think there being a Wait List isn’t Him closing the door for that route?” I wanted to scream. Still not 100% giving into God, I decided it was a good idea to go to my favorite local coffee shop [Midtown Coffeehouse] and have quiet time. Just open my bible and see where the Lord sends me.

Long story short, I was reminded of an image of a map that I screen shot months ago (a whole different story) and began comparing it to maps in the back of my Bible. Googled the name of the place that it once was, Google took me to a study on Ruth, flipped to it in my Bible, The Global Message of Ruth Today talks about how this book applies to different countries. Two countries cause my eye just as I glanced, “Rwanda” and “Serbia”. Both of which are on Route 2. Right then I knew in that moment, Route 2 is where I was being called to be.

But of course, that’s not where the story ends. Not until God makes a complete joke of me. I’m completely confident that God is looking down on me and just laughing and saying “It’s my will, not your own.”

As soon as I receive my e-mail back today (3/16) and officially being accepted to July Route 2 (YAY!) My group message from The Route That neVer Was started going off, the first thing I read was from a member of my old route “Hey Everyone, I am officially on Route 3 too!” I instantly began laughing. God filled Route 3 until I moved to where He wanted me and then He opened it back up! Seriously laughed for a solid 30 minutes about this. For some reason, God really enjoys playing jokes on me. At least I am laughing with Him and decided it would be a good idea to share for everyone to get a good laugh too!

**My new route is Route 2! The countries are: China, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Cambodia, Rwanda, Uganda, and Ethiopia!

The Route That neVer- The “V” symbolized the roman numeral for 5. But also because we would have been Squad V.
