Kamusta-ka!!! Helllo and how are you?!

My team and I have arrived safely in the Philippines. After arriving and swimming in a waterfall, we have all be recovering from jet lag. Over the past week, we have been ministering to people in teh surrounding slums and taking classes to better prepare us for the year ahead.

Exploring Manila has proven to be an adventure. THe streets are crowded and bustling with huge buses, motor bikes, jeepneys (a type of taxi), and a small amount of personal cars. As for a middle class, well, there isn’t one. Houses range from those packed tightly in the slums, to gated coummunities built around golf courses.

Jeff Long, the man in charge of the ministry we are staying with, has a son who plays basketball for the local college. As a squad, we braved the streets of Manila to watch him play. The basketball was lacking, but the atmosphere was electrifying. There were drums lines banging loudly and 20,000 fans screaming at the top of their lungs.
