Week 36: One of the best, if not the best, weeks of my Race.  I first heard about this week back in India during Month 6.  Adventures in Missions called it a Parent Vision Trip (PVT).

Fast forward to May.  My squad started Month 9 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras but 15 of us ventured from Honduras through El Salvador to Guatemala on a long.  Excitement was high as we anticipated seeing our parents after 8 months of separation from our families. I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I was looking forward to the reunion with my dad, spending time with him, and sharing my experiences first hand.

The week was full of ordinary and extraordinary moments.  A walk to the coffee shop each morning.  Worship and prayer after breakfast.  Time to talk with my dad about my struggles and fears.  His arm around my shoulders.  Doing ministry side by side.  Making kids laugh.  Praying for families.  Delivering groceries.  Exploring Antigua.  These are the memories we made together and I will treasure them.

I had never spent that much concentrated time alone with my dad before.  I’ve always known that I have an amazing dad.  He has loved me unconditionally.  He has cheered me on.  He has coached me and taught me.  He has disciplined me and guided me.  I am privileged to be his daughter.

But the best thing about my dad is that he points me to the Father.  And his love toward me is an example of the way God loves His children.

As I think back over the last 37 weeks of the race, there are moments and experiences that stand out, but my World Race would not be as sweet without that time with my dad.  The time with him was refreshing, encouraging, and a blessing to my heart.

Thank you, Poppy, for coming to Guatemala.  Thank you for caring for me and loving me.  Thank you for reflecting the love of the Heavenly Father.  I could not ask for a better dad and I could not have asked for a better week in Antigua with you.
