Do you like surprises?

I do not.  I'm not one to like being caught off guard or surprised by someone, but when it comes to God surprising me, I love it!

Just over two weeks ago, I posted and sent out my support letter to friends and family via facebook and snail mail.  With the amount of  $15,500 to raise looming over my head, I confidently knew that God would provide but I didn't know who would give or how much time it would take.

And then the blessings started rolling in.  I have absolutely been blown away by the giving and the funds that have so quickly accumulated!

Friends from college, colleagues, parents of my students, family, church friends, facebook acquaintances, etc. have given for my World Race needs…and in just two short weeks God has given me over $13,000!  BLOWN AWAY.

Another cool thing that happened this past week was again a confirmation to me that this is what God wants me to do and He is providing for my needs.  I got a sweet card from a family of a student in my class.  Inside the card was a handwritten note and a gift card to REI.  It was incredibly thoughtful and generous of them to give that to me for some of my supplies for the trip.  When I got home that evening, I found the REI Anniversay Sale catalog and coupon in my mailbox.  It was such an encouragement to me to know that God knew the timing of that gift card and the sale was just what I needed to start buying my equipment for the trip.

God has a purpose in meeting our needs.  Sometimes it comes slowly and sometimes He surprises us by plopping it right down in front of our faces.  In whatever timing He chooses, He is good and the giver of all good things.  I am so blessed.

"But my God shall supply all your need, according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
