Today is our last full day in Dragonesti. Tomorrow, we begin the marathon travel schedule. Here is how travel works when you are on The World Race and living on a tight budget.
Tomorrow at 9 am, we have some contacts from the local church bringing a car so we can load our big packs in the car and then walk the 20 minutes to the train station. We then get to hop on a 9:45 am train to Bucharest. We arrive in at 1 pm. From there, we'll catch the subway, switching once and then have about a 10 minute walk to the Happy Hostel. We will stay the night there.
Sunday we have the day free until the evening until we head to the airport. Because our flight heads out at the crack of dawn and taxis are too expensive to the airport, we'll spend the evening of 9/11 sleeping in the Bucharest airport. I guess that is one way to celebrate the 10th anniversary.
Monday morning at 6 am we have a 2 1/2 hour flight to Moscow, Russia. We then have about a 5 hour layover before catching a 5 1/2 hour flight to Delhi, India. We arrive in Delhi at 3:30 am Tuesday morning. Anyone tired yet?
From there, we have to get to our ministry location for this coming month which is Bangalore, India in the southern part of the country. So, we'll take some sort of public transportation from the airport to the train station, sleep there until mid-morning when we get to board a train for our 36 hour train ride to Bangalore. Nope, that is not a typo. If everything runs on schedule, we will arrive in Bangalore late Wednesday night, catch public transportation to the Youth With a Mission base where we are staying for the month and prayerfully arrive either late Wednesday night, but more likely early Thursday morning.
Yes, we really will start our trip on Saturday and complete it on Thursday. You can pray for safety, rest in crazy places, no major hiccups on the different transportation legs and health as I am sure this will be fun for our bodies.
Oh the joys of switching continents, but I am very excited to see what God has for us in Bangalore this coming month.
