Yesterday, we had the chance to head down to Darfur. This is the nickname for this area where a number of young men live who don’t have homes and jobs. It is ripe with drug use and basically a place of hopelessness. We learned from conversations on Tuesday that several of these young men have AIDS and have no money for food, much less for medications that will extend their life.
When we arrived yesterday, there were far fewer people than had been there on Tuesday. Pastor Moses learned that the reason far fewer people were around was that the police had raided the area and many people had fled and hadn’t returned.

We sang a song and then Pastor Moses asked if someone had a message to share with the group. I stepped forward and shared on hope. For many of these young men, it is difficult to have hope. They are dependent on alcohol and drugs. They have no families and no jobs. Many have serious health issues. Where do you find hope when you have no education and very little chance to improve your life?
I shared about Jesus, how he came to the earth and came to give them hope. After sharing the gospel, 5 of the men stepped forward to pray to receive Christ. Two of the guy ended up coming to our church service last night. My prayer is that during this holiday season these men who live in what seems like very hopeless circumstances can rest in the fact that they have found the one true hope, Jesus.
