Today is the beginning of our last full day in Bucharest.  We have been having meetings to prepare us in the morning and evenings and then small group team times in the afternoon.  I am continually learning a lot and getting a better picture of what the year will look like.
Part of that has been adjusting to life in community.  About 50 of us are living in a hostel and have had fun sharing 3 1/2 bathrooms and a kitchen that is tiny.  We've had community meals and been living on a serious budget.  Last night I helped cook dinner and our budget was roughly $.40/person.  We made a skillet with eggs, sausage, mixed vegetables, onions and yellow peppers.  It was pretty tasty if I do say so myself, but the portion sizes were quite small.  It has been several days of being rather hungry as our food budget is about $3/person /day which is about what the rest of the world lives on in total each day.  But, as an American who is used to large portion sizes, adjusting to diary products and meat being a luxury may take some getting used to.
We also are living in tight quarters.  This is the room I am sharing with two other women from x-squad.
We are bonding;)  It is a 3rd floor room so we are also adjusting to lack of a.c.(temps here have been in the 90's)  and mosquitoes that are enjoying me as their bedtime snack.
But, overall life is going well.  We are currently heading out on a scavenger hunt to explore the city of Bucharest and get to know our team a bit better.  Until next time…..
