What is significant about the 10th day of the 10th month? It is how long I made it without being diagnosed with any type of illness on The Race. That all ended yesterday with a visit to the Dr. here in the Philippines and a diagnosis of an inner ear infection and sinusitis. I am quite thankful it isn’t dengue, typhoid, or malaria all of which I figured I might get on The Race, but bogus that I was so close to making it through the year.
Instead, I have an earache, a headache and am dizzy a fair amount. I am thankful for antibiotics, decongestant, nasal spray, and pain pills that hopefully have me feeling better soon. In the meantime, I am thankful to have a bed to sleep in while I recover and a room that only has a few bugs.
But, I do have to wonder what God wants from me in this time. I want to finish The Race well and having to slow down and rest is not usually how I define finishing well. I guess God has a different idea for me. That is certainly not a new experience for me this year, but I want to pull all that I can out of the remaining 18 days I have and not waste a minute, even if not wasting it includes lying in bed getting healthy.
