This past week my squad has been at The Awakening in Brasov,
Romania. This was a time for all current
World Racers, alumni, staff and our coaches to worship together, learn from
each other and grow together. It has
been an incredible 3½ days.
First I will tell you about changes my team has
undergone. As you may remember, I told
you about some changes that happened at the beginning of September. Well, things are always happening here on The
World Race, and at this point in time, our leaders thought that it was
essential to make some more changes. Honestly, the new changes have been really hard for me to understand and
accept, but our leaders assure us that it is for the best, and I trust
them. I know that in time, I’ll see that
it really was for the best.
First off, our wonderful squad leader, Gretchen, is going
back to the United States tomorrow morning. Patrice is only with us for another month, and it was necessary to pull
another person up to be squad leader. William Miller (or William Wallace, depending on who you talk to) was
given this honor. One change always has
a domino effect, and my team got knocked over in this one. Scottie was pulled from Team Smore and placed
as team leader on Team In.tent.city, and A.J. went with her. Warren was pulled from Team In.tent.city and
placed on Team Smore. Once again, a
whole new team dynamic. Thank Jesus he’s
got it all under control.
In between all the changes I have been trying to work
through the past few days, I have been learning a lot. We have had the privilege of hearing some
amazing speakers and teachers; Seth Barnes, president of Adventures in Missions
and creator of The Amazing Race, Andrew Shearman, who runs the G42 program in
Spain, Michael Hindes, director of The World Race, along with previous World
Racers who are now on staff with AIM.
A lot of focus was on Kingdom, and the whole idea of
bringing God’s Kingdom to earth. Andrew
shared with us about our inheritance. Our inheritance is not heaven, like some people often think; our
inheritance is the nations. When we
become children of God, we are given access to that inheritance. It is our job to give the nations back to
God. I am amazed when I think about this. God’s plan is so much bigger than any of us
know! God wants to use us to further his Kingdom here on earth. It is a high calling, but one that God trusts
us with! Talk about Wow!
I am really excited about the months to come. I am learning so much, and there is so much I
still need to learn. Fortunately, life
is a journey, not a race. The one thing
I know and am holding onto right now is that God is in control, and he wants to
use me, and he will if I let go and let him.
