It's official! Our launch date is set for August 2nd! First we will be meeting in D.C., then leaving for Kenya!!! Having the date set makes it seem all the more real. This time between training camp and launch is an interesting mix of thoughts and emotions. Trying to find the balance of being in the present and looking forward to the future.
I would like to begin by saying a huge "THANK YOU!" to everyone who has been a part of helping me raise support. I am so overwhelmed by the generosity God has laid on people's hearts, not only of their money, but also of their time and prayers. Honestly, words cannot fully express how grateful I am to all of you. You are all a continuous reminder of how amazing God is and how there is no possible way I could do this without Him.
I am excited to report that I currently have around $4, 574 in my World Race account! and with other money pledged around $5, 347!! Which means only about $9, 453 more to raise!
To be completely honest with you, raising support totally pushes me outside of my comfort zone. Which is a good thing, but sometimes comes across as being a bit awkward. Throughout this process, I have felt a little like a baby trying to take its first steps. Wobbling, unsure exactly how to proceed, so excited and yet momentarily a little fearful. In those moments, I somehow forget that I have a Father enthusiastically watching and waiting to assist me when I need a hand or sometimes even a small push in the right direction.
God has already amazed me multiple times in this experience. He has opened doors to opportunities, supplied me with jobs for the summer, blessed me through your donations and given me friends & family who are willing and excited to help me in this process. I've also heard the incredible ways He is providing for my squad mates as well as blessing other people through them.
With that being said, my goal is to be fully funded before I leave on August 2nd. Right now, I am still sending out some support letters and planning a large garage sale for the weekend of July 23rd (more than willing to take unneeded items off your hands!). Also, I will likely be selling my car. (The most beautiful 2005 Camry anyone has ever seen, if you're interested!)
As a partner with me in this ministry, I would absolutely love to hear any other support raising ideas or opportunities you may have AND any stories you have of God providing for you. Those testimonies are filled with encouragement!! If for any reason you would like to contact me other than through this blog, my email is [email protected].
$9, 453 to go!!!
God is good!
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 4-7
