I am now living in Kapenguria, Kenya. It is so incredibly beautiful here. Beautiful, green trees. Beautiful people. Yesterday, we got the opportunity to play with a bunch of kids. It was so refreshing. Their smiles are so genuine and their laughs so pure. They rubbed my skin and ran their fingers through my hair. I love that they find so much joy in the littlest of things like a frisbee or duck, duck, goose. I love that they are to incredibly content to just stand there and hold your hand, or sit with you under a tree. Content to just be with you. and lean on you. and laugh with you. In a way, I think God feels the same way about us sometimes. And I think He has given our team a couple days of rest to learn to enjoy each other all the more.
And now a list…
Before Kenya, I had never:
1. taken a 13 hour flight
2. been to Qatar
3. Stayed in a Hostel
4. eaten PB&J for 6 straight meals (i count pb&j a blessing, no worries)
5. Used a "squatty potty" (learning to live in skirts from now on)
6. bounced so high or laughed so much on a bus ride
7. seen a herd of zebras in the wild
8. had brothers
9. realized Africa could be such an amazing shade of green
10. been so sure of the fact that the world is different, and yet incredibly the same.
for all of you in Texas, the weather here is in the high 60s and slightly rainy. yeah. it's good.
Again, a huge thank you to all the supporters and prayers being sent our way. much love to you all!! tomorrow we start digging, i think! haha
