I’m in love! You know the feeling…smiling like a fool…absent-mindedly drawing hearts with your loves name in the middle…writing out Mrs. So-and-So…except my love is for an entire country…a lovely group of people in the town of Mireabalais, Haiti. I should have seen it coming…all the signs were there…getting weepy over things like a bottle of Coca Cola when I got home because it reminded me of picnics and random meal breaks…hand sanitizer because it reminded me of little hands grabbing mobbing me for stickers…nail polish because it reminded me of little squirming girls doing their best to sit still while we smiled and cooed expressing love in a totally different way while painting their nails…putting on clothes in the morning and thinking of the new “robes of righteousness” so many kiddos received trading their rags for clothes and seeing it tangibly happen spiritually as well…worship music because it reminded me of a beautiful thatch-roofed open-air church…farms because they reminded me of animals roaming freely…EVERYTHING because it reminded me of Haiti, Haiti, Haiti …obsessively looking at cute kid pictures…humming Jesus loves me in Creole. What I didn’t expect is to have to take stock in what this might mean for my World Race trip. For face value…I could see this just being a glimpse for my love for each of the countries I’d be traveling to on the World Race…or could God have something else in mind??? So I say God…I’m YOURS totally YOURS. Make, Break, Shake me into your will I’m YOURS.
Fact 1: Haiti is the first country I’ve served in where God has given me a Yes to return…the WHEN is unknown at this point.
Fact 2: For years I’ve prayed that my parents would receive a word or vision from God involving missions for me…and my mom received this one describing it like God was in the seat next to her (paraphrased)…
YWAM (previous trip I had hoped to take around the world) was about Erin wanting Adventure and a little about God
World Race (current trip plans) is more about serving, a little about Erin and adventure, and more about God
Haiti is ALL ABOUT GOD (What I’ve learned is there is the potential to use my World Race support to go long-term with Adventures in Missions the sending organization of World Race. It might look like 2-4 months of training in another country, and then moving to Haiti to serve for a minimum of 1 year). This is very very much in the idea stage.
Fact 3: Bottom line…I am praying, praying, praying about what to do…sitting back and doing my best to BE STILL…waiting on God. I believe God brought me to the World Race for a reason…my financial support has totally been coming in. I’m over ½ raised for the race which is a great place to be in. I believe there is a reason God sent me with Visiting Orphans to Haiti…it was not a dumb idea (ie Who goes on a mission trip right before going on a mission trip?) but something completely God-ordained, anointed, and destined for such a time as this. I know God has given me a heart for the nations and a love and passion for Haiti. I’m in a great spot. I have amazing friends and family that love me; a roof over my head, employment, and so many many blessings…now is just a time of seeking. Please seek with me…fervently…that whatever God’s will is I would hear it clearly and walk in His Truth and His timing for my life.
