When I was a kid there was a TV Show called Double Dare. Contestants worked together through gross obstacle courses and had to find flags to go to the next part of the course. One portion of the course had a nose where you had to pick the nose to find the flag, and another was an ear where you had to dig through the wax for the flag. I remember thinking both were really really gross and they certainly didn’t spare the imagination using weird colors or textures to give an extra gross factor to it.
Why am I talking about Ear Wax? Well, it never particularly dawned on me that Christians can build up unhealthy amounts of spiritual ear wax. From what I understand ear wax is naturally there to protect the ear canal…but a build-up of ear wax or I imagine other bodily fluids can naturally affect the health of the whole body. I used to think I heard really well from God, clearly, audibly…and as of recent everything I thought I understood of God has been challenged. Some cleaning needed to take place…it was like the teacher on the Peanuts cartoon and things from God started to sound like Wa-waaa-wawawa-wa.

Or… like a airplane pilot realizing that the instruments on his dash that he used to rely on were actually unreliable due to the tail spin he was in.

Back to the basics.
I can’t get the ear wax out of my ear…this is God’s job. I’m just here to be obedient to do what He asks….even if its gross or uncomfortable I need to let Him do this for me.
