My niece just turned one recently.
I’m not sure where the tradition began. Did Adam and Eve give their kids cake or a cupcake back in the day to see how messy their kids could get on their first birthday? Hmmm…but here is this beautiful little smiley girl sitting in her highchair full of awe and wonder at this cupcake with purple frosting. She puts the cupcake to her mouth, she squeezes the cupcake with her chubby little hands, she is going to enjoy every little piece of this thing….and she does. She’s not just eating this cupcake she is experiencing every last bit of it by smooshing it on her face, up her nose, in her hair, EVERYWHERE! And that’s not all…her grandpa gives her a second cupcake…I know I know there should be laws about this…the kid is going to yak for sure. So then she’s covered with purple and pink frosting.
Now that I’ve gotten your attention and you’re about to run out to your local cake shop…
Ephesians 3:20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
I’ve been pumped about all that God is going to do on the World Race…and although I have my “What have I signed up for days?” as most of us do…I’m excited. What I seemed to have forgotten is that God has been doing some exciting things right NOW right in front of me…things above and beyond what I’ve expected. I may not be wearing this exciting stuff in my hair or up my nose…but I still thought it was important to share them with you.
He’s…
-Provided for my teammates and I to hit our initial deadline to go to Training Camp
-Blessed me with a Squadmate from Wisconsin!!!
-Knit our World Race “S” Squad together in some pretty awesome ways
-Provided over 52% of my funds so far
-Given me a job that allows for me to go to a week of training camp
-Sent me Friends and Family with some awesome skills in fundraising, encouragement, GRACE, and silliness
-Allowed me the opportunity to spend a week in Haiti in March before sending me back overseas for 11 months to 11 countries
-Has protected me in road blocks, slippery roads and ditches, back and ankle “owies”, etc
-Answered silent and spoken prayers
-Given me challenges and times of testing…YES…even though moments I am thankful for
-Teaching me about spiritual ear wax build-up and how to listen for His voice only
-Loved me well
Areas I’m still praying for…
-Better understanding of Jesus and His love for us
-Quality Time with Friends and Family
-Healing of Heart Hurts…for an abudance of Freedom and Intimacy in Christ
-To be fully funded by July 1 so I can better focus on ministry and things God wants to refine in me
-Finances for bills, gear, and plane ticket to “Launch” before leaving
-Packing, last minute responsibilities, ending things well
-There are a number of things that need to happen (at least in my mind) for this “Launch” in July to go well and honor God…would you pray for wisdom and guidance as I take a step at a time to walk in obedience with Christ and His will for right NOW
-That God would absolutely shock me with whatever exceedingly abundantly more looks like for the month of May…I’m asking that May be a “Miracle” Month although I have no clue what that might look like
